International School will open its new campus in the Kulim Hi-Tech Park in September 2008. The School will initially offer classes for age groups 4 to 9 years progressively building up to a school leaving age of 16½ years old.

will initially be housed in a building set on 3.2 acres. The current building has been modified and refurbished to meet the needs of a Primary School.   will start in September 2008 with 6 classes starting from Reception (age group: 4 years) up to Year 5 (age group: 9 years). Higher classes will be added progressively starting from September 2009.

It is the School’s plan to move to its permanent site, within the Kulim Hi-Tech Park, by September 2010. The permanent site will be designed for a maximum of 600 students covering both Primary and Secondary Divisions. Following the School’s practice in the main campus, all classes will not exceed 19 students per class.

CURRICULUM

The medium of instruction will be English and the curriculum used, in the Primary Division, will be the International Primary Curriculum [IPC].

ADMISSIONS

Being an English Medium School,    is open to the children of Expatriate parents and to Malaysian families who meet the requirements of the Ministry of Education [MoE].

All admissions to are via an Entrance Assessment and Interviews. Students are normally admitted to the School at the beginning of the school year in September. The Entrance Assessment normally takes 2 school days. All requests for admission must first be directed to the Registrar.

Application Forms for admission are available online or they can be faxed or posted. Subject to performance in the Entrance Assessment and availability of places, an offer of admission will be made within 7 working days.

Please note that does not currently have a Learning Support Unit for students with Special Educational Needs. Hence each application is considered carefully to ensure that we are able to offer an appropriate learning environment to all our students. 


ADMISSION FOR MALAYSIANS

Apart from the standard elc admission requirements, Malaysian students must also fulfill MoE requirements for admissions. These requirements are :-

  • one parent is a foreign national
  • the child has studied overseas for not less than 2 years, excluding Kindergarten
  • parents with definite proof of employment overseas in the near future
  • parents categorized as Malaysian professionals overseas returning to Malaysia using government incentives
  • siblings of Malaysian students already attending International Schools with Ministry of Education approval

FEES

From the beginning it has always  been elc's objective to try to provide quality education at an affordable price for students most deserving of it.

For  ,  the term fee structure will be at 2 levels. Level1 applies as long as the temporary site is in use and Level 2, which matches the fee structure at the Selangor campus, will apply when the School moves into its planned permanent site 


SCHOOL FEES
* Registration Fee [Non-Refundable] - MYR300.00
This fee is charged per child and covers the costs incurred during the 2 day Entrance Assessment. It is not refundable and is applicable to all levels.

* Admissions Fee [Non-Refundable] - MYR4000.00
This fee is non-refundable and is charged per family regardless of the  number of children (siblings) seeking entry. This fee is applicable from Year 1 and above.

* Deposit [Refundable] - One Term’s Fee
The deposit is refundable in full one week after the close of the Student’s final term with elc , provided that not less than 6 weeks term time (excluding holiday time) notice is given in writing prior to the Student’s last day in School and all dues to and claims by the School are settled in full.

This fee is charged per child and is a termly cost. There are 3 terms per academic year.

* Technology Fee - Primary per term - MYR100.00
This is a compulsory fee charged per term.

* Insurance Fee - per year - MYR25.00
Class of Policy: Personal Accident. This is a compulsory fee per child annually.

* Miscellaneous Fees
This fee can vary in amount depending upon the requirements for any given Term or Year. Please note that on the School Invoice, Miscellaneous Fees will be itemized and should not generally exceed MYR150.00 per term.

* Transfer/Re-Admission Fee - MYR1500.00
Families seeking to return to elc after a period of absence or transfer to another elc campus will be required to pay a fee of MYR1500.00 per family. Please note that  transfer to another elc campus is dependent upon availability.

* Other Costs
This would include the cost of uniforms, text books, exercise books and organized activities that involve outside instructors/suppliers e.g. Taekwon-Do, Dance, Drama etc. These costs are paid directly to the instructors/suppliers and not to the School unless notified by the School of any changes in the payment plan.
