ADMISSION INTO elc

In order to achieve the standards we have set for ourselves, we keep our School and our classes small and our student-teacher ratios low. Our class sizes rarely exceed 19 and we have set a ceiling enrolment at around 600 students.

Being an English medium International School,
elc is open only to the children of Expatriate parents and to Malaysian families who meet the requirements of the Ministry of Education.

Currently, these requirements are -

  • one parent is a foreign national
  • the child has been attending school outside of Malaysia for not less than 2 years (this excludes Pre-School and Kindergarten)
  • parents with definite proof that they have been instructed to work overseas in the near future
  • parents categorized as Malaysian professionals overseas who would like to return to Malaysia using government incentives, or
  • siblings of Malaysian students already attending International Schools with Ministry approval

All admissions to elc are strictly via an entrance examination and interviews.

Students are normally admitted to the School (Reception to Year 10) at the beginning of the school year in September. All requests for admission must first be directed to the Registrar.

There is no direct admission into Year 11, this is because preparation for the IGCSE, GCSE and GCE Examinations are 2 year programmes beginning in Year 10.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR elc

Students seeking admission must sit for an Entrance Assessment. This assessment involves not only written tests, but also interviews with, one or more, senior members of the teaching staff.

Subject to performance in the Entrance Assessment and availability of places, an offer of admission will be made within 5 to 7 working days. The entrance assessment normally takes two school days.

Please note that elc International School does not currently have a Learning Support Unit for students with Special Educational Needs. Hence each application is considered carefully to ensure that we are able to offer an appropriate learning environment to all our students
