Ms Asha Kaloo completed her secondary school education in Perth, Scotland and then went on to graduate from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, Scotland with a BSc in Consumer Product Management. Before joining elc International School in 1994, Ms. Kaloo also spent 2 years based in London working in the Hospitality Industry and another year as a Research Analyst with a Kuala Lumpur-based international management consultancy. During her time with the School, she fulfilled many roles ranging from teaching, admissions, administration, finance and operations, often combining multiple roles at the same time, giving her a work life that has gone well beyond a typical desk-bound executive. In addition, she also headed the Primary Division at the SB Campus from 2000 to 2003, and the whole CJ Campus from 2009 to 2012. Armed with experience in teaching, school operational matters and finance dating back to 1994, Ms. Kaloo is currently the CEO of elc International School, as well as a part of the Board of Directors.
Mr. Rajan Kaloo received an MA in Management Studies from Aberdeen University. In 2014 he completed his Master’s in Business Administration, specialising in Education, with Keele University. Initially, Mr. Rajan worked in hospitality, before spending 4 years in Operations and Logistics with Great North Eastern Rail based in Edinburgh, UK. In 2005, he returned to Malaysia to work as a Management Consultant before joining elc as a Business Development Manager in 2007. Having served the school since 2007, Mr. Rajan comes with a wealth of experience involving many of the non-academic aspects of running a school. He will work with the Board of Directors and the SMC to ensure that they are well-equipped and positioned to meet the Schools’ goals while continuing to cement the Schools’ reputation as a leading educational institution.
Dr Umasuthan Kaloo is one of the founders and a current member of the board of directors of elc International School. Dr Kaloo, who holds degrees in Engineering and Management from the University of Malaya, University of California (Berkeley), University of Cranfield (Cranfield, UK) and the University of Wales (Cardiff, UK)) has been a management consultant for 36 years. Prior to that, he was a lecturer in the Faculty of Engineering, University of Malaya for 9 years, and an Engineer with the Drainage & Irrigation Department of Malaysia for 5 years. During his years as a management consultant, he taught part-time on the MBA programmes of the Cranfield School of Management (UK) and Southern Cross University (AUS) for a total of 16 years. In recent years he has published 2 books on the management of small enterprises and a biography of one of Malaysia’s best-known scientists.
Mrs. Chong Soh Nee received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Malaya where she majored in English Literature. Upon graduation, she worked in the hotel industry for several years before venturing into teaching where she joined the Malaysian Institute of Art as an ESL teacher. She then taught English and Business Communication at Kolej Bandar Utama (now First City University College Malaysia). In 1998 Mrs. Chong joined the School as an English and Literature teacher for KS3 and KS4 and was later promoted to Head of Department for Languages and Literature. During her long tenure at elc, she has also held the position of Head of Secondary before being appointed the Principal of the Sungai Buloh Secondary School in 2021.

YBhg Datuk Azzat Bin Kamaludin holds degrees in Law & International Law from the University of Cambridge (1969) and BA (Hons) from Queen’s College (1968) and was admitted at the Barister-at-Law of the Middle Temple, London in 1970. In 1979 he was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya and in the same year, he became a partner of the law firm Azzat & Izzat (formerly Messrs Chua Brothers, Azzat & Izzat. Advocates & Solicitors). Prior to 1979, he served with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia, in various capacities including Asst Secretary to ASEAN. Besides his full-time legal practice, YBhg Datuk Azzat Bin Kamaludin currently serves on the Boards of several companies. The listed companies where he serves as an Independent Director include, Boustead Holdings Berhad, KPJ Healthcare Berhad and Axiata Group Berhad. He agreed to chair the Board of ZauM Sdn Bhd, the owners of elc International School in 1987 and has continued in this position to date.

Ms. Sharmila Wahab graduated with a degree in Banking and Finance from the University of London in association with London School of Economics, and then completed her Teaching Degree in Sri Lanka. After initially working in Sri Lanka at the British International School, and a brief period of travelling and volunteering in Asia, the Middle East and Australia Mrs. Wahab arrived in Malaysia, where she joined elc in 2009. Her teaching career stated with Secondary Mathematics and Business Studies, before moving into the Primary Division. Very quickly she moved into positions of leadership ranging from the Primary Mathematics Coordinator to the Upper Primary Senior Assistant to Head of Upper Primary. In addition, she has led the professional development and performance management for staff across the whole school. After a brief move to Thailand with her family in 2018, she returned to elc in 2021 as the Principal of the Sungai Buloh Primary School.
Ms. Kothai Chidambaram received her Master’s in Educational Leadership and Management from the University of Nottingham, UK, in 2020, adding to a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and a Cambridge International Diploma for Teachers and Trainers. In 2001, Ms. Kothai started teaching part-time in English Language Centres for young children before joining Nilai International School as a Humanities, Business Studies and Accounting teacher. She joined elc in 2012, and over the years taught various subjects at different key stage levels. During this time, she also headed the Secondary Division from 2014 to 2019, worked as Exams Officer from 2015 to 2019 and led the Cambridge International Teacher Training as Programme Leader from 2013 to 2019. Having served the school in varied teaching and leadership roles, Ms. Kothai was appointed the Principal of the Cyberjaya Campus in 2019.
Mr. Kumar Nagappan received a Bachelors in Economics from the University of Malaya in 1995. Initially, Mr Kumar worked in the insurance industry for 3 years before becoming a freelance tutor for five years. In 2002, Mr Kumar joined elc as a History teacher. In 2007, Mr Kumar left to further his studies, earning his Master’s in Business Administration with Open University Malaysia in 2011. He then worked in several IBDP schools, across the world, before returning to elc as Head of Pastoral Care in 2016. In 2019, Mr Kumar was promoted to Director of Student Welfare, working closely with the Board of Directors and senior leaders in the School to ensure that safeguarding and student wellbeing remains a focus with all our staff. In addition to dealing with the past and present, with his focus on safeguarding and wellbeing, he also looks to the future and aims to equip elc students with the skills for life beyond school.
