News of our Former Students

Nothing gives us greater pleasure in elc than to hear of the successes of our former students. So we were truly delighted to hear that Visagan Ravindran who was with us from January 2007 to June 2016 has been going onwards and upwards in his academic journey. Whilst it is not exactly a surprise that he has done well, nevertheless what he has achieved in his University in Durham is truly amazing. At elc he was described as “sharp, intelligent and hardworking” “with
maturity of thought, a keen sense of perception and an ability to comprehend abstract ideas.” and at Durham he has shown that he does indeed possess all of those traits whilst developing many more attributes.

As a result of his efforts, Visagan has just graduated on July 1st with First Class Honours and an MPhys Degree in Theoretical Physics. He also won the undergraduate prize, a transcript with first for every subject in every year. As a result of these amazing achievements, he has been awarded the Durham Doctoral Scholarship which is a full scholarship that will allow him to study for his PhD on Condensed Matter Physics. This Scholarship is open globally and awarded to
only 5 applicants per year, another indication of how well Visagan has done. To say that all his former elc teachers are proud of him is an understatement. We are sure that we will be hearing more of him in the years ahead, but for the moment we send him all our congratulations and wish him every success in the exciting journey ahead.

Good luck Visagan!
