WHILE AT elc

Nationality:
Malaysian
Year enrolled:
2000-2005

Any memorable stories you would like to share of your time at elc?

I remember:

  • Mrs Chong saying that to end an essay with “…and then I woke up and realised it was all just a dream” was a lazy way to wrap up a story.
  • The satisfaction one receives when opening a brand-new box of Buncho paint in Mrs Poh’s art class.
  • Packing Halloween candy and writing dedications to be distributed with the Interact Club to raise money for charity.
  • The 2 times I ever fell (once playing football on the school field; the other running the road relay) and have since developed a lovely scar on each knee as a reminder.

Did elc give you any valuable life lessons that shaped the way you conduct yourself today?

Take advantage of opportunities and success will come from hard work. It’s also important to have empathy and be receptive to diversity because in the world outside elc, we don’t always have the privilege of being around like-minded people and folks with as unorthodox an upbringing as my own. Be proud of your uniqueness and your personal story.
